Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does it mean to be in a Christian sorority?
A: We are a Christian social sorority founded in Christ  first and Sisterhood second. We encourage one another to grow in love through life in Christ.  Some of the ways in which we fellowship include Bible studies, social events, retreats, and service projects. Sigma Alpha Omega is a great way to get involved and enjoy college while still remaining true to your identity as a woman of God.

Q: Is Sigma Alpha Omega considered a greek sorority?
A: Sigma Alpha Omega is not a Greek or Panhellenic sorority but is considered to be a national non-profit organization. For more information, visit our national website at www.sigmaalphaomega.org

A: Recruitment is held during the Fall semester in late-August / early-September and in late January for the Spring semester. Please visit the recruitment tab for more information about dates and events!

Q: How many girls can be recruited each semester?

A: We never have a set amount.  We believe that God will put the girls in this sorority that he believes are right for it.

Q: Do I have to be a specific denomination to join?
A : Not at all! SAO is an nondenominational/interdenominational organization. All we ask is that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It's really awesome to know that we're not called to be a specific denomination, but to simply be followers of Christ. Therefore, we will never try to force you to adhere to a specific doctrine or become a member of a certain church.

Q: Can I join Sigma Alpha Omega if I'm in another organization?

A : SAO sisters are involved in a ton of organizations outside of our chapter.  The only co-membership that is not allowed is with Panhellenic sororities.  We welcome members of professional and service fraternities/sororities or other organizations.
