Sigma Alpha Omega
SAO Events
Sigma Alpha Omega is about building relationships, not only with sisters to create a genuine and kind sisterhood, but also a relationship with our Lord. Sisterhood is nonstop encouragement, laughter, love, & friendship. Together we worship and grow in our relationship with God. There is no better support than having a group of Godly women to help you through anything and everything.
WHAT KIND OF EVENTS DOES SAO HOLD?
SOCIALS: Socials are a way that sisters come together with each other, with dates, or with other organizations. Some may include powerpoint nights, going to the Georgia Aquarium, parents' weekend, and socials with other greek life. We do a destination formal each spring semester and a semi formal here in Athens every fall semester!
WORSHIP: Worship Nights are an amazing way that we grow in our relationship with God through praising him through song and small sermons lead by sisters. Prayer Nights are simple, but powerful ways to communicate with God with our sisters by our sides.
BIBLE STUDIES: Ministries are a way to spread God's word and love with those outside of Sigma Alpha Omega, which include simply having encouraging tabling events at the student center and having bible study groups with other organizations on campus.
SERVICE: Service Projects are there to give back to the community, some of these include writing cards to veterans, collecting donations for non-profit organizations, and volunteering at local churches and community centers. We have Week of Service every spring, as well as our Service Principle Event.
PHILANTHROPY: A way SAO gives back to the community is by supporting our philanthropy, Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance. We write letters to women who are still fighting their battles, spread awareness about Ovarian Cancer, and hold percentage nights. Each fall we have our Philanthropy Principle Event.
